ON LAYAWAY*1960s Black Velvet Hooded Cape

Stunningly gorgeous black velvet cape featuring ornate gold embroidery throughout. It has a large rounded collar completely decorated with silver and gold metallic cord embroidery that outlines this entire piece. The front opens up to four frog closures and is open onwards. The armholes are beautifully done in the same metallic embroidery that just pops against the rich, black velvet. There is a wonderful embroidery of what looks like a flower or palm tree on each side on the front bottom. The back of the cape is just as stunning as the front with two magnificent bands of elaborate embroidery, where you can also see the details of the amazing hood. The interior of the cape is lined and the material has some weight to it. This cape is seriously gorgeous from every angle and is such a great collectors piece. Happy to share the history of this cape as it was given to a bride as a wedding gift in 1960 and was purchased from one of the oldest Arabic marches in the world.
